Transitional Serif fonts are distinguished by a vertical stress and ascenders are usually angled. The bracketing is more noticeably open than earlier groups. Later Transitionals generally have straight serifs rather than angled. They are part of a major category of typefaces in which all characters have a short counter stroke at the end of stems, arms and tails, most text faces come from this group. |
