Pixel Typefaces are designed especially for the screen. Like terrazzo tiles in a mosaic, they are designed on a strict grid - exactly the same grid as the pixels on your computer screen. Each 'tile' has to be a certain fixed size and must butt-up to its neighbor exactly. This means that one can't scale them, they have to be used at their designed sizes, or exact multiples. It also means that one has to work in pixels and not in traditional points. A point is 1/72 of an inch, so working at a document resolution of 72 pixels per inch keeps points and pixels perfectly in harmony. |
