The International Typeface Corporation (ITC) have been leaders in typeface design and marketing for over 30 years. They were founded in 1970 by Herb Lubalin, Edward Rondthaler and Aaron Burns and are based in New York (USA). On March 2, 2000 it was announced that Agfa-Monotype has acquired ITC for an undisclosed sum from Esselte.
ITC collaborates with world-class designers to provide a library of more than 1,000 classic typefaces and innovative new designs. ITC licenses its typeface library throughout the world to more than 130 companies in the graphic design, computer and printing technology fields.
While renowned for classic designs, ITC has aggressively expanded the scope of its type library to include more contemporary designs, including distinctive display faces and inventive illustration fonts (called DesignFonts). Further expanding the spectrum of its type collection, ITC has acquired the Fontek line of display typefaces, which was originally developed by Letraset. The Fontek line includes unique and trendsetting faces from some exceptional contemporary designers. Combining the Fontek line with the ITC library results in an exceptionally versatile range of more than 1,000 typefaces. ITC is now developing and releasing more than 100 new typefaces each year.
Classsic fonts in their library include: ITC Stone, ITC American Typewriter, ITC Charter, ITC Bodoni and ITC Highlander. Modern fonts include ITC Malstock, retro styles such as ITC Mona Lisa and revival styles such as Isis. |
