Monotype Typography is one of the oldest and most respected companies in the typographical field. For more than 100 years, the company has had extensive experience in developing high-quality typographical products for the graphic industry. It made history as the inventor of the Monotype hot-metal typesetting machine. Today, the company develops and sells fonts and software for computer systems and peripheral equipment. Monotype is considered to be the market leader in multilingual font solutions and Unicode implementations, and has extensive know-how in non-Latin and expanded Latin alphabets. The Agfa-Gevaert Group took over Monotype Typography in 1998 after the two firms had co-operated closely for 5 years. In 1997, they worked together on production and distribution of the font collection Creative Alliance 8.0, which contains more than 6.500 fonts from the combined font libraries of both companies. The most recent version of this best-selling font book was Creative Alliance 9.0 which had over 7,000 fonts listed. |
