The poster is as popular today as it ever has been particularly the smaller poster. Because the viewing distance is close and the main purpose of the poster is to catch attention, it is common practice to use new and unusual typefaces when producing posters. The sans serifs and the decoratives employed are often heavy and dramatic and are nearly always new. The attention is caught because the style of the type is one that hasnít seen before and it intrigues the viewer. Serifs, of course, are also used in posters but by their very nature serifs tend to have differences that are subtle and are certainly not eye-catching, maybe this is why faces such as Remedy have been so popular. |
